Choosing Accountants in Estonia

Ordinary accounting and bookkeeping are not licensed in Estonia — no certificate is legally required to offer the service — so judge an accountant on track record, references and experience with your kind of company (especially e-resident-owned OÜs and cross-border VAT). Sworn auditors are a separate, regulated profession under the Auditors Activities Act, needed only where a statutory audit applies.

Practical checks that matter more than a title here: does the firm handle monthly VAT and the annual report through the e-Business Register, and does it understand OSS/IOSS if you sell across the EU. Where the firm also provides your registered address, that part does require an FIU licence.

Regulator: Ordinary accountants not licensed; sworn auditors regulated (Auditors Activities Act). Official source. Checked 19 July 2026.
