Choosing Tax Advisors in Singapore

Singapore has no statutory licence for tax advisers, so the title carries no regulatory status by itself. The credential to look for is the voluntary Accredited Tax Advisor or Accredited Tax Practitioner designation from Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals, and — for any audit work attached — an ACRA Public Accountant registration.

For an international business the questions that matter are practical: can the adviser represent you before IRAS or only prepare figures; do they know the incentive and treaty position for your situation; and are they cautious about promising an effective tax rate before seeing your numbers. Singapore's territorial system and extensive treaty network reward advice specific to your facts, not a generic rate.

Regulator: No statutory licence; SCTP accreditation (Accredited Tax Advisor). Official source. Checked 19 July 2026.
