Choosing Accountants in Turkey
Accounting in Turkiye is a licensed profession. The titles are SMMM (certified public accountant) and YMM (sworn-in CPA) under Law No. 3568, and holders belong to a local chamber under TURMOB. So the firms listed here for accounting are, in practice, SMMM or YMM practices — and that licence is what you should confirm.
The YMM title carries a statutory tax-attestation (tasdik) function the SMMM does not, which matters for larger companies. Statutory audit is separate again: an independent auditor must be authorised by the KGK, the Public Oversight Authority.
