Choosing Lawyers in Turkey
Legal representation in Turkiye is reserved to a lawyer admitted to a provincial bar association (baro), with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations as the national umbrella. Only an admitted avukat may advise on Turkish law and represent you before the courts and authorities — verification is done at the provincial baro.
Match the practice area to your matter: corporate and commercial, IP, disputes, employment and immigration are distinct specialisms in Turkiye. For a routine company formation an SMMM or formation agent is more economical; a law firm is worth its cost when the matter is truly legal — a shareholders' agreement, a licensing dispute, litigation.
