Choosing Lawyers in Turkey
Lawyers draft and review the documents that bind a company: constitutional documents, shareholder and founder agreements, commercial contracts, employment terms, and the filings that change ownership or control.
Corpy lists 3 firms offering lawyers in Turkey. Each listing is compiled from the firm's own published information, and Corpy does not take a commission on introductions.
How this is regulated in Turkey
Lawyers are admitted to a provincial bar association, with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations as the national umbrella. Verification is done at the provincial baro.
Turkish companies are registered through MERSIS, the central registry record system, with filings executed by the local trade registry directorate and announcements published in the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette.
What to check before you engage a firm
- Confirm the individual, not just the firm, is admitted to practise and holds a current practising certificate.
- Ask whether they can represent you in court in that jurisdiction. In several markets, advisory rights and rights of audience are different licences.
- For cross-border work, ask which law governs the documents they will draft and where disputes would be heard.
